Windows 10: Random Folder Duplication

So every now and then on my C:/ drive I get a folder called "Program" and it mirrors my "Program Files (x86)" folder. (Its a hardlink) It happens with other folders too. I'm kinda baffled at finding whats causing this. Anybody here have any tips to root out the cause?

After 1511,10586 Upgrade, Edge Favorites are screwed up

After installing the upgrade, almost but no quite all folders in the Favorites list are duplicated and sort order is lost. Since I have hundreds of favorites in about 40 folders and I use the Favorites list heavily, this is truly annoying.

It is not even a matter of simply deleting duplicates since they aren't in fact complete duplicates. Instead, the entries that originally had been in one folder, are now
split between two folders that have the same name and the quasi duplicated folders are themselves randomly distributed around the list. Even worse, a few but not all individual URLs appear in both folders. There seems to be no simple underlying
pattern to this ridiculous, incredibly annoying fiasco. It's as though some random number driven duplicating routine has churned the list.

So, since (also incredibly annoying) there's no sort functionality in the Edge Favorites, the only way to clean this up is to laboriously manually drag every single one of the hundreds of entries around until I have at least one sorted, non-duplicate list--
which I'm not about to do. Yet another frustrating idiocy in Edge. Since I use the list heavily, this is enough to drive me back to IE.

Has anyone else run into this?

 

backup folder

The Documents folder has a folder called Backup, within which , at random intervals but at least weekly, I get dozens of folders created which are usually empty. Sometimes the folders contain documents which I recognise but haven't used for years and which
are duplicated several times. I backup my work manually to a memory stick weekly anyway.

My PC is a couple of months old and I upgraded from Win 8.1 to 10 a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that over 400 gb of my 500gb disc had been used and I discovered that most of it was taken up in the Backup folder. The oldest backup files contained lots
of duplication so I've deleted them..

Does anyone know what's going on.

 

Welcome to the forum program is for 64 bit apps the other is for 32 bit apps some apps have a 64 and 32 bit app its normal

 

I think you misunderstood me. I am aware of the purpose of the two folders. What happens is I get a third folder called "Program" that is a hardlink of "program files (x86)" It also is happening to a couple other locations.
