  1. random freezes

I have been having issues with windows 10 since my fresh install 3/4 days ago. at random times my pc will just freeze if there is sound when it hangs it just continuously makes noise. this wont go away unless i hard restart
the pc freezes mostly randomly, while gaming, browsing the web, installing software ,just rebooted 3 seconds ago it will crash.
    OS:windows 10 pro
    MOBO: MSI 970A-G46
    RAM: 8gb gskill 2133mhz
OS drive: samsung evo 840 evo 250gb
    XTRADrive: 1tb WD drive
    G CARD : nvidia gforce gtx 970

    I tried:
updated all my MB drivers (the lan drivers and sound actually had updates)
Samsung 840 evo ssd firmware update
updating windows (currently up to date)
google'ing other error related things and trying those solutions
    chkdsk passed
REsults for memtest86+ 8 passes no errors

Im not sure if this is one problem or multiple.
By that i mean when i look at the event viewer I see multiple errors at and around the time of freezing most recently:::: Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed....
    Also :::: Faulting application name: backgroundTaskHost.exe .........
And ::::: Metadata staging failed .........

since my OP it has occured twice the 1st time 2 errors and 4 warnings
    errors
::Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0
::Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{00000000-0000-0000-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF}'
the warnings are all related to loss of internet connection

    Then crash #2
    no errors only 4 warnings
::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
::A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.
::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
::A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
these warnings are the same warnings from the last crash

    3 days later crash 3
    1 errors and 4 warnings
    Error
::Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0
    Warnings
::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
::A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.
::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
::A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
these warnings are the same warnings from the last crash

    crash 5-6
same errors with lack of connection even tho im BROWSING THE WEB

help on this issue is very appreciated.

Freezing is non-diagnostic- only indicative. Could be RAM, disk, driver, conflicting programs, PSU...

Please list what you've actually tried (from the thread etc) so we don't duplicate.

I'll assume you're confident in your hardware as it's been running ok and you've done some tests.

You said you've recently clean installed and then installed programs.
If so, at what point in that process did you start to notice freezes?

Have you looked at your event log (Event viewer) - does it give any clues?
For a quick indicative view try
    Appcrash (Nirsoft)
    Whocrashed (resplendence)

How old is your hardware? Please advise.

    Here's what I'd try:

Make a disk image of what you have, so you can restore it.
    Clean install Win 10.
    Check for freezes.
That way all added programs and drivers are excluded, and you can focus on issues related to drivers and hardware.
    Check for freezes.

    or you could try
Clean boot - check for freezes, crashes
    If so
Download and install Shellexview, hide MS items, disable all others, check for freezes
Safe Mode - check for freezes

Please gets you further than !!!!

  7. thank you for the response since my OP. I have done a repair pc LEAVING my files since the repair tho i have not tried much just realizing last night the pc crashed its self OFF the latest group of errors from the event viewer
errors :MID SLEEP ::The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance.

those warnings happened over and over? like 3 times in the time span of last night

this morning tho i have used whocrashed and originally it told me there was no dump files. so i forced crash using whocrashed
the event viewer showed up with 1 error and those same 4 warnings again. the one error was provided by whocrashed the warnings are the no connection to internet listed above

As far as how old the system is it was all purchased most of the components were purchased

tho again im not thinking its dieing hardward because these crashes only stared with windows 10. i have used windows 7 and 8.1( pirated) for the time in between then and now. Please NOTE:: I Purchased a windows 10 key, then i stared having issues
    ____
so my next attempt is going to be a clean install of windows without installing any other software im going to do full updates on windows and drivers ...
im guessing i just have to wait for these things to be done then hope i crash again ?! random freezes :p
will post again after fresh install

EDIT: im using the media creation tool by micro$oft
Update:: clean install of windows 10 is good:
using MSI live update 6 to install reltek_hd_audio_drivers_6.0.1.7708 x64 (this auto detected my speakers and microphone)
    and Realtek_pcie_network_drivers_10.3.723.2015

    random freezes

    Hi, on drivers:
Uncle MS basically looks after this in Win 10. That's different to previous versions.
If you try to change the driver version from that installed by Windows (older or newer) Windows will replace it, unless you take special measures. That is, unless you have good and necessary reasons to use a different driver, don't.

Good idea to try a clean install- if you wish, you can use disk imaging to preserve your current system's state, and potentially restore it. Depends how much work that is for you.

    Good luck..

It's worth keeping the iso/boot device - this can be useful if doing an in-place upgrade repair install (see Tutorial for some details).

Don't use driver scanner programs, unless you can't find a driver or have very special reason.

What you're looking for is anything that gives more specific info about your crash.

First, run some stress tests. Ideas here:
10 Stress Test Tools to Determine the Stability of Your Computer • Raymond.CC
(I have no special knowledge of this... but for example the supplier of this custom laptop makes a practice of running stress tests before shipping them out).

If it fails during that, then suggests looking more closely at the hardware + drivers.

1st call- event viewer - and the two utilities I mentioned.

Have you made any hardware changes since it was running Win 7?

  11. i have purchased my ssd and gtx970 since windows 7 however both of those were in use during windows 8.1 with no issues.
i have had another crash with 12 warnings and 4 errors ( it has gotten worse)
all of the warnings have to do with connection to the internet and the 4 errors
:Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{00000000-0000-0000-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF}'
:The lmhosts service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not start due to a logon failure.
:The lmhosts service was unable to log on as NT AUTHORITY\LocalService with the currently configured password due to the following error:
A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.

To ensure that the service is configured properly, use the Services snap-in in Microsoft Management Console (MMC).
:Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

should i still run the stress tests like heavyload that you posted?
also rereading my last post it seams weird that chrome has been involved in every crash. but im hesitant to say chrome is causing these crashes . it might just be that i always have chrome open when windows freaks out..

EDIT::::: using appcrash view skydrive.exe and systemsettings.exe both poped up

Hi, just a first comment.. I thought this was to be a clean install. No 3rd party programs.

Sure, people run Chrome (I never have, so am unfamiliar with it).
So I suggest you uninstall Chrome, and use IE (or Edge) - both are available. And uninstall any other programs you've added for now.

We need to establish a baseline - can we get Win 10 stable on your PC.

By all means, make sure a clean Win 10 does everything it should, and check the task manager shows minimal CPU and disk use when idle, Wifi, Cortana, the start menu all work....

****************** Possible solution to at least one of your reports ********************************************

Have a look at this which seems relevant:
Solved Metadata staging failed - Windows 10 Forums

This may help to explain the error msg furtherm, assuming it’s what you’re experiencing:

EDIT3?:: I still have chrome uninstalled

uninstalling chome was a mistake internet exploder decited to seasure? heartattack? not let me into my ten forums account I have been locked out for 48+ minutes.

with my last install of windows 10 I tried that fix( Solved Metadata staging failed - Windows 10 Forums) and it actually made more warnings in event viewer however I have not tried it since fresh install. I will try that now

EDIT I have followed that post and I now get 5 errors and 1 warning or reboot
