Windows 10: Random, intermittent Black screen on Windows

About 2-3 times a week, Windows goes completely black will not respond to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. The computer itself is definitely on, as I can ping the computer when it is in this state. Most often, 1 or 2 restarts will fix the problem.


Afterwards, when checking event log for an explanation, the error I see Scannel Error, error code 36887.

Description reads:


A fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013.


Could this cause a blank screen? This is the only constant after I have the issue

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to update the Display drivers and check if that helps. If that issue persist please uninstall and reinstall latest drivers available in manufacturer website.

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
• Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.
