    Random PC crash followed by reboot and then a second crash with no apparent reason?

    As I was playing games today my PC worked perfectly fine as it usually does and had no problems whatsoever. I then went into a discord call and started streaming a different game to friends. This worked perfectly fine for like half an hour, however the PC then proceeded to hardstutter, making those infamous "bzzzzzt" sounds you always think of when discussing computer crashes. The PC then simply rebooted itself. I thought nothing of it and simply opened Discord again and rejoined the voice call, however the PC then did the same thing again, except this time I had to manually reboot it by holdi

    Random crashes/reboots - PSU failling?

    I'm concluding that's not a software issue but a hardware one, most likely being the PSU the culprit.

    • Power supply in my area has always been very inconsistent in summer time, even experiencing several low voltage situations system wide, with surges making my PC to reboot automatically. Despite PSU's got it's own protection methods, exposing it to several days -and years overall- of unstable electric flow could've inflicted some damage on it. PSU is not near top of the line and it has 8 years of continuous usage (Sentey BRP700).

    • I did have random, sporadic reboots over time on my system for a while, even while doing basic tasks (watching a YT video). None prove to be catastrophic until the other day.

    • Since the "mayor crash" I experienced the other day while playing a game, that rendered my system unable to install AMD Drivers even on a fresh new copy of a clean Windows 10 , I did experience several random reboots using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter performing basic tasks;
      • At the time of the "mayor crash" I had latest AMD drivers installed and they were working just fine and no mayor Windows 10 updates were installed that day.

    • Removing video card (AMD R7 265) and replacing it a Geforce GTS 540 for testing purposes also triggered random crashes and system's lock up (different behavior, but same result nonetheless = system crash). Even while using the Geforce the computer suffered TWO system crashes just by clicking on the "refresh" button on TechPowerUp GPU-Z app. Yet, the third, fourth, ... times I clicked refresh, system did not reboot.
      • Attachment 273658

    • Weirdly enough FurMark stress on my CPU and the testing video card -Geforce GTS 540 with Nvidia drivers installed- didn't make my system crash. Yet, opening Chrome afterwards triggered a crash.
    I can't identify a system crash pattern.
    The only pattern is that when I try to install AMD drives for my R7 265 the system does crash. The rest of the reboots are random and not logical based on the system stress at the moment.

    Despite inspecting the PSU -and computer in general- for failed capacitors, I really lack the know-how to effectively detect a bad one unless it's very obviously damaged.

    Bottom line: I'm purchasing a new PC overall -time to upgrade anyways- and I expect this to solve my issue once and for all.

    I really appreciate time invested in trying to help me, guys!

  3. Windows 11 Crashes Apparently Caused by Agent Ransack.

    Hello,

    Windows 11 is apparently crashing due to Agent Ransack, refer following.

    Can you please provide any suggestions etc?

    A summary follows;

    1. I have not observed a crash if Agent Ransack is not in use,
    2. An increase of virtual memory, refer following, apparently assisted, though crashes still occur,
    3. The crashes apparently only occur if both: searching with Agent Ransack, and using Windows Media Center;
      1. The same search without Windows Media Center apparently does not crash,
      2. Yes, Windows Media Center – I have not found a suitable alternative, and
      3. I experienced only one crash, despite “thousands” of searches using both: Windows 10, and Windows Media Centre; on another computer.
    4. I have updated to the latest revision of Agent Ransack,
    5. The crash’s likelihood is apparently related to search’s character length,
    6. I have access to a computer with Windows 10 that successfully completes a search that causes Windows 11 to crash, and
    7. I unsuccessfully trialled changing the hard drive being searched,

    The crash errors include the following:

    1. Kernel mode heap corruption
    2. Bad pool caller, and
    3. Page in non page area.

    Thanks and regards.

    Random PC crash followed by reboot and then a second crash with no apparent reason?

    Reboots/Crashes while Gaming

    Hello,

    I have random crashes while playing games. Its the same problem as in this thread Random-ish reboots

    So basically when playing a game the PC randomly crashes into a reboot. This occurs completely random and without warning.

    As suggested in the linked thread I disabled fast startup, which sadly didnt fix the problem.

    I also monitored my temperatures which are fine. A workaround that seems to be stable is lowering my graphics settings to very low.

    I attached my V2 Logs after a Crash. Windows Version is 1909 (OS Build 18363.720)
