Windows 10: Random ping spikes - from 7-8ms to even 1000ms - back to 7ms

Hello guys. I got a problem right now.


Something that has been happening for a month, two ago mainly when the pandemic broke I started seeing so many ping problems.


An example I can give is that, almost every day, me and 3 friends have a regular ping spike. Today, I got a ping spike - my friends don't.

Tomorrow, they have a ping spike - I don't. So on, and so on.


I got a gigabit internet. OTP set in bridge, with my router being a Tenda AC18 supports gigabit - setup is OTP->router->pc wired.

My PC specs are: i7 6700k; motherboard h110m2-d3; 16GB of ram; a 240gb SSD and 2 old HDDs recently found out that my download speeds are throttled by the HDD - since it's a really slow one to about 25MBps on different game launchers.

If there is some advice, I would be glad to hear it. Right now the only issue I can see is ISP servers.


AT the time of writing this, I have no ping spikes, while my friends on discord got huge ping spikes. Next time it will be the opposite.

Random Ping Spikes

As of two days ago, I have been getting random ping spikes. I have done speed tests, and get normal speeds, but when I ping my router or other sites, such as Google.com, Ill have random spikes of up to 400ms. It will be a stable 1ms when I ping my router, but will randomly spike to ~400ms at random intervals. Any help is appreciated. I can supply any screenshots if necessary.

i get lots of random ping spikes. they dont happen all the time but maybe once evry 2 days and last hours. when i type ping (my ip) -t in cmd it says "request timed out" every time i spike. none of my other devices seem to experience this issue and i even
got a new antenna and its still there. it might be my router but i dont think so. what should i do?

So, I decided due to other issues I was having, and low storage space to reset my PC. The issue was solved that way, I'm no longer experiencing random ping spikes.
