Windows 10: Random Restarts when Doing stuff like VMWare or Steam Games

Hello All,

My Issue: Random restarts by my computer and sometimes BSOD when either running VMWare or Steam games. Sometimes this results in a BSOD. This has been happening since I moved to Win10 From Win7.

What I've Tried and Confirmed:

• Not the memory (memtest64 and 84)
• BIOS up-to-date
• Drivers up-to-date
• Not hardware related after multiple tests on each piece individually (though sometimes I get WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR when booting from SSD. Doesn't happen on Win7)
• Not corrupt files or registry (sfc /scannow and CCleaner check)
• Running ACHI and checked Registry.
• Did a direct clone of HDD to SSD
• Not Overheating issues. Just in case, cleaned and applied fresh thermal paste and watched temps (highs were 60 when running VMWare or video game)
• Not Overclocking to eliminate lower Voltage and overheating possibility (even then I have a great PSU). Defaulted everything to make sure (and is currently set to that).
• Disabled the Automatic Restart options that Windows 10 has including inside the Registry.
• Latest Windows Updates.
• No Malware detected. Performed a full scan overnight.
• Tried setting the Minimum Power State to 5% for the processor Power Management

Conclusion:

Windows 10 Hates Me

steam problem

Windows 10 Steam game crashes

I suggest you to update the Graphic Card driver by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

System restarts while accessing games from Steam on Windows 10

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Have you installed all the pending updates and driver updates on your device?
• Have you checked with the game compatibility and system requirements to access the games?

Step 1: As you have already installed Steam in compatibility on Windows 10, I suggest to install the games in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

  Compatibility tab.
