  1. Random screen dimming and loss of brightness control

    Windows 10 build 20H2
    Dell Inspiron 7570

If I increase the brightness of the display using the brightness keys to reach maximum brightness, and then decrease brightness to minimum; Now if I increase the brightness once again to the maximum, it results in significantly lowered peak brightness. Repeating this process one more time results in complete loss of brightness control

The problem stops after a restart, however sometime while running, the screen dims and the problem starts again. In fact the screen dims during use and not inactivity which is strange. This problem persists even though the laptop is plugged-in
I have installed latest display drivers and updated windows as well, but it did not stop the problem. I have tried disabling and then enabling the display driver from Device Manager, but again no change.

    :)

  2. Screen dimming even at 100% brightness

Hi recently bought a Lenovo laptop, a Lenovo V14-ARE laptop, and as soon as I turned it on I noticed, when I put it on 100% brightness it is bright and vivid but then it dims. After a while, the screen brightens again then proceeds to dim once again in a
few seconds. When I plug it in to charge, the screen is bright and vivid but as soon as I unplug it, it dims. I already left clicked on the power icon in the task bar, went to power options and selected "choose when to turn off the display", clicked "change
advanced power settings", scrolled down to "display" and opened its list, but the only option I have for the display's list is "turn off display after", in the Youtube videos I've seen they have an "adaptive brightness" setting or something like that and that
fixes their problem but I don't have that option. My power plan is also in high performance and everything is "on battery" but the problem still happens.

    Can this problem be fixed?

Screen Goes Dim (Microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 operating system. I appreciate your effort in trying to fix the issue.

What is the model number of the device?

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and let us know if that helps.

    Method 1

Disable the Adaptive Brightness to Fix Dim Screen in Windows 10

    1. Click on Start, and then enter
Power Options into the search field.
    2. Select Power Options from the list
    3. Click on Change plan settings link next to the already selected plan.
    4. Click on Change advanced power settings link, and the Power Options window will appear.
    5. Scroll down to the Display Brightness option, put 100% in
On Battery and keep plugged in 100% as well.
    6. Browse down to Dimmed Display Brightness, and do the same as mentioned in step 5.
    7. Scroll down further to
      Enable adaptive brightness
, and then put both On Battery and Plugged in to Off

    Method 2

Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method battery is a driver that is responsible for the communication between your laptop battery and Windows system. We would recommend you not to uninstall the driver. However, since your
query is also related to “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method battery " reinstalling upon restart, I would suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it is helpful to you.

    1. Navigate to Control Panel within Settings.
    2. Click on System, in the Control Panel.
    3. After the System Properties window is launched, click "Advanced System Settings" located on the left hand side of the screen.
    4. In the Advanced System Properties window, click on the
Hardware tab and select Device Installation Settings.
    5. When in Device installation settings, select "No, let me choose what to do" and "Never install driver software from Windows update".
    6. Save the selected preference and restart the system.

    Hope it helps.
