Windows 10: Random shutdowns/crashes

For the past month, my laptop has been shutting down/crashing randomly. It would just go black while I'm working, and when I start it up it would be a fresh start and not a resume like sleep or hibernate.
I thought it might be an overheating fan but that seems unlikely since I have a cooling pad, and the laptop doesn't feel too hot. But nonetheless, I tried my best to clean the fans. Didn't work.
Maybe it's the battery because I noticed the shutdowns would happen whenever it was unplugged/on battery. I tried troubleshooting, did sfcscan and DISM, didn't seem to help. But it seems strange because these shutdowns started happening frequently very suddenly just as this February started. I'd assume problems would start out slow and gradually get worse. The way I charge my laptop I simply charge it all the way to 100%, unplug, and then plug when it's low
Another culprit seems to be Windows 10 update. Recently, I rolled back an update in an attempt to fix it, and things seem to be fine for a week before another update was automatically installed just today. Shortly after I unplugged my laptop after charging, it shutdown like usual. I've also looked through Event Viewer and found the Kernel Power 41 63 error. Tried solutions like updating drivers and setting the sleep to "never".

Windows 10 Stuck on Repair, getting random shutdown.

We just want to verify a few things about the issue you're having with the issue that's going on on your PC. Please provide answers to the questions below:

• Can you tell us what were the troubleshooting steps that you have done so far?
• About the random shutdown, is this concern happening prior to the update?

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Random Crash/Freeze on Build 10130


Hello everyone.

I have been running the Windows 10 preview for the last few months and other than a driver issue here or there, did not experience any real problems. However, with the last update to build 10130, I have been experiencing a random crash/freeze that manifests itself in one of two ways:

1. If I step away from the computer and come back before the monitor is set to go to sleep, I will come back to a frozen cursor, unable to do anything.
2. If I step away from the computer and come back after the monitor has gone to sleep, I will come back to a black screen, unable to do anything.

In both cases, I have to hold the power button in to shut down the computer for a restart.

Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated.
