    After some new disk scans it appears that the HDD has a bad block, barely a month old.
    Currently running chkdsk on either of the partitions of which I think has a bad block.

    It seems to affect the visual at boot, when disabled it takes some time before the login screen shows up.

    A test with this results in something interesting, disabled is the system freeze free for a few days, enabled occurs a freeze every few hours. For those interested I am talking about the RC6 optionality in the BIOS in Power Management.

    Great found!
    As the IGPU goes to standby, it freezes.

    I am sure that it will be a very useful information in future.

    Did a google seh, got this ... the document deals with the question ... "Power or Efficiency?"
    I would say "Stability". Everything else comes later.

    Hard freezes when you can't even move the mouse is a sign of a bad hard drive. I had issues like this on two computers and replacing the hard drives fixed it. Also don't defrag them using Diskeeper or PerfectDisk both a waste of money. They wore out those hard drives.

    Done this, only the Management Engine fails to install everytime. I do not know why as the only error that I understand is 'fatal error occured during installation'. This happened also when I booted the system for the first time and installed the drivers.

    Next step, removing either of the memory sticks to see if that results in anything.

    The prima facie cause of this might be a previously installed driver.
    You may uninstall the previously installed driver in Device Manager > System Devices > Intel Management Engine > Driver Tab. Then try the installation once again.

    Random system freezes for weeks

    That did not go very well, a different message appeared saying 'this system is not supported' or something in that way, rebooting throws the old error.

    I dont even think that you are taking the driver for another board/rev.
