  2. Windows 10 random sleep issues

    Hello Ken,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per description, your system is going into random sleep.

The issue could occur if there are incorrect power settings on the computer and also because of incompatible display drivers.

I would appreciate, if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better?

    • What is the make and model of your system?
    • Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
    • Do you get any error message/ error code when your system goes to sleep?

I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check.

    Method 1:

    Run Power Troubleshooter:

I would suggest you to run printer troubleshooter which will tell you if there is something wrong with the printer settings.

Follow these steps to run power troubleshooter.

    • Press Windows key + X key and Select
      Control Panel
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View All on the top left corner.
    • Run Power and follow the instruction.
If issue still persists try method 2.

    Method 2:

Please follow the below steps to troubleshoot with the issue:

1 . Select “Settings” from the Start menu, then click the “System” option.

    2. Click “Power and Sleep” from the list of options. Make sure that the options under “Sleep” are set to a desired value.

    3. Click “Additional Power Settings” under “Related Settings.” You will be redirected to the control panel.

    4. Select “Change Plan settings” under your chosen power plan. Then click
    “Change advanced power settings”
    from the resulting screen.

    5. On the “Power Options” window, expand each setting to make sure nothing is preventing your computer from going to sleep.

    6. Once you are done, click “Apply” to save your settings. This should fix the problem for you.

If issue didn't get resolved try method 3,

    Method 3:
    Update display drivers.

    a. Press Windows + X, Click
    Device Manager.

    b. Expand Display
    Adapters
    .

    c. Check if the name of the graphic card is the list.

    d. Right click on the Display Adapter’s name and click
    Update.

Refer to article given below to Update the drivers in Windows 10.

How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10

Hope this helps. If the issue persists please provide required information and we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
