All the security in the world is no good, period. There will always be a way to circumvent it and most of it is by design. Built in to take control.

It doesn't definitively tell you any more than has been mentioned already:

It does seem to take the focus away from XP though - in RED - considering Windows 7 is still the most popular PC OS in use today

Oh Dear another product placement site, they may be legit but in situations like the recent pandemic, I would think they should stop pushing products *Sad

I asked Kaspersky support about this and similar ransomware attacks and they their claim their antivirus products will detect and block such threats. It seems other tools may not be needed if you are using a capable antivirus product?

*Think Just wondering IF M$ wouldn't have such a bad reputation for updates bricking PCs as well as the GWX and Telemetry BS *Think How many of the affected systems wouldn't have been up-to-date *Rolleyes

Current chatter points to pirated software as a big part of the problem of non updated systems.

  11. I use the full Malwarebytes Suite and Trend Micro Ultimate (or whatever their best is called.) Aside from that, I also do periodic backups of my system. That right there pretty much mitigates the issues.

The latest release of Malwarebytes 3 Premium anti-malware includes anti-ransomware and anti-exploit so no need to run separately.
