Windows 10: Ransomware

Ransomware protection in Windows Defender all of a sudden decides that the .exe file for one of my games is a low threat and has blocked it from running and I can't play this particular game. I've been playing this game on and off for the past 8 years without a problem and for the past 6 months on this computer.

I have tried to unblock this game by using 'Allow an app through Controlled folder access' however it still continues to block the game from starting up. I've tried to uninstall/reinstall the game, I've also tried turning ransomware off but the problem still exists. Any ideas what else I can do?
