First of all not sure how you would connect it.

Then its output is 5V and your power pack is likely something else. All my laptops have outputs from their power bricks between 16V to 19.5V. Using an incorrect voltage may mess up your charging circuit.

 

Are you trying to charge the battery pack from the laptop or power the laptop from the battery pack?

If you are trying to charge the battery pack then there's no problem (though it will take a long time).

If you are trying to power the laptop then no, you can't do it with that battery pack. There are other packs that can output the correct voltage and current but not the RAVPower 32000mAh.

 

I think I found the battery packs that I need for my laptop and other devices:

Not understanding exactly how these devices maybe used and when, the portable generator looks the easiest to use. One 120V out which you would just plug your brick into. Have 12v output but again you would need correct interface cable between laptop and generator.

The first device has a 20V output, same issue, cable to connect between devices.

When I say how you will use and when..... Is this just a one time charge in big outages, are you planning to travel with devices, the generator is considerable bigger, likely heavier.

 

It's not in the Amazon photos but the Crave PowerPack does come with adapter cables. They're listed in the description and shown in one of the customer photos.

 

Actually, My Asus G752 will charge through the USB C / Thunderbolt port. I see they are selling docking ports that replicate USB 1 2 3 C Plus Video Ports HDMI and DVI and will charge your battery while in use. I have no use for this and don't have any experience just happen to see this on the Pro Advantage web sited and my manual reports the USB C port can be used to charge the battery?

 

Not all laptops can charge through the type-C port. I don't believe the Inspiron 5770 can do it but Dell isn't very clear on this.

I personally do charge through the type-C on my Dell Latitude so that I can use charge my laptop and connect a 2nd monitor with one cable.

But for a battery pack I can't think of a compelling reason to use type-C versus a regular charging cable since you'll lose the use of that USB port when charging.

 

I am having trouble finding a Battery Pack for my Dell laptop ..... I connected the Crave 50000mAh PowerPack to my Dell laptop today, but got an Error Message saying the battery pack was not compatible with my laptop. Must have at least 65W to power my laptop. My Dell laptop requires 19.5v. I think 20v would still be ok ? But not sure if only 19v would be sufficient ... ?




I have been searching on Amazon and Google .... and have found many battery packs and portable generators (that do not need to be plugged in to run devices), but do not know which ones, if any, will run my Dell laptop ....




Can you help me find the correct unit to power my laptop while camping ... ? I need something with enough juice to last several days .... also with several USB ports, at least one AC port.

 

There's 2 components of electrical power - voltage and current.

Even if your battery pack can output the correct voltage, around 20V, you must also confirm that it can output the correct amount of current.

For 65W from a 20v battery pack you need at least 65W/20V = 3.25A.

The Crave 50000mAh pack states:

So it is insufficient for your laptop. You need to get a pack with a higher current rating or an explicit wattage rating. A quick search on Amazon shows a few 85W and 100W battery packs. But those require you to plug in your normal charger to the battery pack, unlike the Crave that connects directly to your laptop.

 

Good news, so far ... My new AIVANT AC Power Bank 42000mAh/200W is charging my Dell Inspiron 17" 8th Generation i7 Laptop ... up to 58% in around 50 minutes. This unit is small enough that I can carry around in a backpack, or messenger bag. The Power Bank measures: 7-3/4"x5-1/2"x1-3/4".
