Windows 10: RAW photos cannot be opened in 20H2 Windows 10?

I'm a photographer and recently I noticed that windows is not allowing me to preview my RAW photos on Photos app. My RAW file format is Nikon's NEF RAW file. I have downloaded the official NEF Codec straight from Nikon official website but it still doesn't work. I must download RAW Codec from whatever Microsoft gives me. Please help its not good for me because when I preview the image, it somewhat processed it, yes I still want to view the raw. Previously I can use Nikon's official NEF codec with no problem including previewing the RAW files using the Photos app

How to get rid of raw file support in windows photo viewer?




I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.

 

RAW Photo files

Just recently upgraded a PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. This PC will be used strictly for photo processing mostly using Lightroom and Photoshop. Neither Photos or Windows Photo Viewer will open the RAW files on this particular PC. I have three other
PC's that have been upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 that will open up the RAW files in both Photos and Windows Photo Viewer. Have searched the Microsoft sites trying to find the Codec files so I can view RAW files on this PC but have found only for previous
Windows versions and they won't install. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
