Windows 10: Razer 14 - BSOD Error occurs after turning on laptop from sleep mode DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I can't set my laptop in sleep mode ever. If i Place it in sleep mode and try to turn it on - Black screen appears and doesn't load anything.After few moments BSOD occurs DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. So have to shutdown laptop completely and start it again.Sometimes I forget and close the lid of the laptop which in turn leads to sleep mode and BAM! BSOD again!. DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD after closing lid of laptop(sleep)

A few hours ago I had closed the lid of my laptop to put it to sleep. But after opening it again, I saw that the PC had shut down. WhoCrashed showed that there was a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error and listed ntoskrnl.exe.

Windows BSOD when entering S0 sleep with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error

I should create a new question about DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE but there are a lot of them. I prefer to use one of the last created.

I had a similar experience with a Windows 2 in 1 tablet. I got a lot of BSOD during sleep mode (S0), display off mode, or even when the computer was idle. Thanks to the MS tool Windbg Preview, I finally understood that the problem, due to the sdstor driver, was related to the SSD (a 'Generic Biwin' as listed in the device manager). This disk and its associated driver probably don't work perfectly together and don't manage correctly the S0 mode.

After I disabled the sleep mode for the hard disk in the power management, choosing 'never' or 0 instead of 1 minute (?!), I didn't get BSOD anymore during display off mode or when the computer was idle. But the problem still exists during the sleep mode because this mode put the hard disk in sleep mode. So, it must be set to 'never' in the power management. Anyway, the display off mode, which keeps the SSD awake, may be enough and totally convenient for a lot of people. So I think that's a suitable workaround.

I don't know whether this change may cause a damage to the SSD (which, from now on, never 'sleeps', but did it really sleep?). I'll see...

 

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.
