Windows 10: RDP Internal Error Specific IP:Port

I have a temporary RDP connection between my work computer and home computer, to access some tools for a project. It is set up for single source IP and a custom port. It was working fine until our company relocated to a new office, yesterday. On my home computer, I updated my Windows firewall to point to the new work IP and also updated the port forwarding on my home router. However, attempts to connect result in "Internal error has occurred." It doesn't even attempt to initialize.


I can RDP to any other device on the internal network, without issue. If I change the port I'm trying to connect to at home to something random, I get the error I would expect to see in a case like this, "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for the following reasons..." If I change it back to the correct port, I get the internal error again.


Other than the change of location and IP, no other changes were made. I have attempted to follow some guides on this error, but they appear to be for people who get the internal error for any connection, as all of the proposed settings changes were already where they needed to be.


Any advice?

RDP Not working with port 3389

So I have a tp-link router and I port forwarded port 3389 to my ip address. I port forwarded the ipv4 found in network and sharing center. I checked to see if the port was open at canyouseeme.org but it said the port was closed and I was not able to change
the ip it was looking for to the one in network and sharing center. I opened port 3389 in Kaspersky and enabled RDP in Windows Firewall.

Anyone have any suggestions?

 

windows 10, server 2012 RDP internal error has occurred

Hi all,

having issue with windows 10 remote access to server 2012 RDP, firewall ports sllowed, tried turned off firewall, tried different RDP port, each time trying to RDP to this server, will be getting " internal error has occurred" . did check on the server services,
realised each time RDP in, " remote desktop services" will stop running.

windows is updated and not sure if there is any hotfix for this issue?

Changing Microsoft Remote Desktop Port from Default TCP 3389 to TCP 110.

OK, this makes things a lot clearer.

Port 110 is a bad port to use because it is the default POP3 server port.

When you say that you want this scheme to work everywhere then I assume that your RDP host is located within your own network and that the remotes could be anywhere. If so then you need to do this:

• Select any unused port, e.g. 41312.
• Give your RDP host a fixed internal IP address, e.g. 192.168.1.55.
• Create a tunnel through your router for port 41312 so that it sends the relevant port packets to 192.168.1.55.
• Adjust the RDP Host's firewall if necessary. Turn it off during the testing phase.
• Get a fixed external IP address or URL for the RDP host site, e.g. www.MyRDPHost.org.
• Invoke RDP with mstsc.exe www.MyRDPHost.org:41312

If this sounds too hard, use TeamViewer instead.
