    We are having an issue with one of our Windows Server 2019 VMs running on VMware ESXi, 8.0.3, 24022510For some reason users who were previously able to rdp into the server are no longer able to do so unless they already have a user session logged in. I have confirmed that remote access is enabled and the users trying to rdp have permissions to do so. The issue seems to have a deeper root cause as we are seeing other strange behavior. If a user has an active session established through the console they are able to rdp into the server and assume that active session however if there is no activ

  2. Users Connecting via RDP to Windows 2019 server unable to return to running session with applications open

    Hey there,

    I have users RDPing to a Windows 2019 Server.

    Users are complaining that they cannot reconnect (by clicking on the X to close out the RDP session) and have their programs still running.

    I know Windows 2019 is still pretty new, but I've been trying to find answers and haven't been able to solve this.

    Do any of you know about specific RDP settings/configurations that should be enabled or disabled for this?

    I'm at a loss.

    I have scheduled a task running all the time on my Windows server 2016.

    Connecting through RDP, few functionalities require user to be logged on to the server to be processed but it seems user log offs after a time limit. After certain time limit, task was facing "Access denied 0x80004005"
    Error

    i have tried changing the following in RDP session host settings in group policy:

    • automatic re connection -> enabled
    • deny logoff of an administrator logged in to the console session -> enabled
    • configure keep alive connection interval -> 99999
    • session time limits -> disabled
    But they didnt help my task, still its facing "Access denied 0x80004005" Error

    RDP Issues and Ghost User Sessions - Windows Server 2019

    RDP session appears to be hanging up

    I have a workstation that auto updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

    I RDP into a Windows 2019 server daily.

    As I am using the RDP session, several times a day things will become unresponsive. This ranges from the operating system not recognizing when I press the windows key to not being able to click on anything within my programs.

    If I close the RDP session then reconnect, I am able to return to using my programs. Simple things like pressing the Windows Key work again to open the start menu.

    My assumption is this is with the RDP system since if I close the session and connect a new one, things work again. The server OS is still functioning and my programs are still running.

    Note: these computers are not part of a domain. I am using a simple Windows workgroup to network these two computers.

    Any ideas or suggestions on where to look for the hangup? Could it be an incompatibility between the RDP client of Windows 11 and the Windows Server 2019 OS?
