Windows 10: RDP Microphone delay in calls

I use RDP and remote audio to work on my work's laptop from my desktop's screen - which is a 2k 27" screen versus the small laptop screen of my laptop.

I'm in the same LAN, so it's not even via internet. the only thing that could impact performance might be that the laptop is connected via WiFi? It's using a 5Ghz band, and it's located very close to the router.



Anyway, the video calls are a nightmare: My audio has like 5-8 seconds delay, which makes my interventions in any meeting pretty akward: It always seems like I'm interrupting anyone speaking when truth is, due to the delay, people receive my audio later than what I intended.

Is there any solution for this?

RDP stops microphone after some time

When I connect to my remote computer microphone works for some time (couple of minutes or so) and after that RDP completely stops sending microphone signal to my remote computer. If I minimise RDP and check microphone on my home computer it still works.
If I close RDP and reopen it microphone works but once again only for a couple of minutes. So I need to reopen RDP constantly.

We appreciate you posting your concern here in the Community forum. Follow these steps in order to remedy the issue:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Type in Sound.
3. Select Recording tab.
4. Select Microphone.
5. Click on Properties button.
6. Select Listen tab.
7. Uncheck Listen to this device.
8. Hit OK and go to Playback tab.
9. Select your playback device and use Properties button.
10. Select the Levels tab and unmute the microphone.

If those steps didn't fix it, try to unpair the connection and pair it again.

If issue is still there, you may try to update the driver with the use of the steps in this link.

Built in microphone not working

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
