    RDP Over Internet


    I saw someone here ask about RDP over the internet and they decided to go with TeamViewer because port-forwarding for RDP is extremely insecure. I want to use Microsoft RDP so I should probably set up a VPN but I'm not sure how I can do that without any external hardware (for example another computer to run the VPN on). I want to run everything on one laptop (the same device I want to RDP into). How can I do this?

    Sorry if this is a stupid question.

    Is it possible to share internet connection via remote desktop?

    RDP is not capable of Internet sharing, so you can't share Internet using RDP with standard applications. There are many way to share Internet from a Windows box to another one. I suggest you to use VPN. You should do following steps:

    1. Run VPN Server on your server with unlimited internet access
    2. Connect to VPN server from your limited computer

    I wasn't giving steps on how to get RDP working, that is covered plenty of other places, I just give the steps to make it secure.

    RDP. If they aren't tracking your Web browsing, I doubt they are going to track RDP.

    And if you start the session from the command prompt it doesn't even put the address in the MRU list.

    Though the question that needs to be asked now is, what are you using for your VM lab?
