Windows 10: RDP Stuck at please wait

I have a windows 10 pc, and I am using Cisco Anyconnect VPN, and connecting to my desktop at work. I keep getting the “please wait” screen on my laptop. It never goes away. I can’t be driving 30 miles just to go reboot my PC in the office which defeats the purpose. Is there a fix for this yet?

RDP

I guess I am showing my age.

In times past I was able to use RDP to remotely connect from my pc to a remote host pc - provided that remote pc was RDP enabled and the fire-wall was opened for the RDP port.

These days it seems much more complex.

Is there a step-by-step instruction sheet to follow? Or, better, is there an app/utility which configures the host more-or-less automatically?
