    Hi all,We need some help as users are getting an error for Remote Desktop License Issue, screenshot below.We do have 2 separate domains, with 2way trust in between them.a.local -> users are from this domain, so as the RDS license serverb.local -> machines are domain joined to this domain. RDS CAL License is Software Assurance, and have installed on WinSever 2019We have followed the below MS link and also verified that the pre-req are all in place.GPO are also set to point to RDS license server in a.local, per user.     Activate RDS CAL 2019 on Windows Server 2016

    Dear Microsoft Support,



    We recently purchased Windows Server RDS CAL 2019.

    When we tried to install Windows Server RDS CAL 2019 into Windows Server 2016, it shows the license is not recognized and couldn’t install.



    My questions are :

    1. Can’t Windows RDS CAL 2019 be installed in Windows Server 2016? If can, how?
    2. Is there any way to downgrade RDS CAL from 2019 to 2016 version?

    RDS CALs

    I have Windows server 2019 RDS CALs (User) installed on our license server. I would like to know if I can use these 2019 RDS CALs with server 2016. Is it backward compatible? I can see that the 2016 server has picked up the license server successfully. Just wanted to know if this will work successfully going forward.

    Windows Server 2019 RDS CAL for Windows Server 2016

    I recently purchased Windows Server RDS CAL from Microsoft Online site.

    When I purchased it I didn't know that it was for Windows Server 2019 and I have Windows Server 2016.

    When I tried to install Windows RDS CAL for 2019 into Windows Server 2016 it shows the license is not recognized and couldn't install.

    My questions are:

    1. Can't Windows RDS CAL for 2019 be installed in Windows Server 2016?

    2. Is there any way to replace RDS CAL from 2019 to 2016 ver?

    3. Can I get a refund for this?
