Windows 10: Re: Brand New Dell XPS 7390 Laptop - "Cast to Device" not working to smart TV

1. "Cast to Device" feature on new laptop not working.

2. On my old laptop also running Windows 10, "Cast to Device" works well to the same home-networked TV, so I believe the TV is not the issue.

3. The common Windows networking settings and Media Player settings are the same between old and new laptops.

4. Network Discovery is turned ON.

5. The laptops appear on the TV media server lists and the TV appears on the laptop device lists.

6. The Windows support services DNS Client, Fxn Discov Resource Publication, SSDP, and UPnP Device Host are all running.

7. Notable difference: old laptop is on a hard cable connection vs wireless connection for new laptop

8. Drivers??: Drivers on the new laptop drivers have been updated and no rollback drivers are listed.

Unable to Cast to Device to my Smart TV

The other similar thread to this says 'Cast to' used to work to a Samsung TV but now it doesn't. This would imply something is 'wrong' with our Win 10?

Can anyone suggest some more troubleshooting steps to try to determine what the issue is?

When casting from laptop to smart samsung tv there no viden tv only windows 10 logo and sound from casting.

Any solutions how can see video?

Cast to device stopped working

I have a new asus laptop (under 3 weeks old) and a new smart tv (under 6 months old).

I have been able to cast video files from my laptop to my smart tv off and on. To try and fix the problem permanently, I updated all my windows drivers and then the cast function worked, but only for one day. The next day, casting again stopped working.
I had not made any changes to my system after updating drivers. My smart tv is a hisense and is also up to date with its drivers.

What happens now is I right click on my video file and select cast to device/smart tv, and the file loads on the TV. However it will not play. I get an error in the cast to device window on my computer saying 'unexpected device error'. There is nothing I
can do to make the files play.

This is a major function that I need, and that is not working on my computer, and I am very disappointed how flaky it is. I thought windows had improved, but this is proving to be extremely frustrating.

Any suggestions are welcome.
