Windows 10: RE:CARD READER WONT SHOW

Hello


I have an Asus F571Y laptop and am trying to insert a card reader but it won't read any of the cards even though it makes a sound when inserted

I can also see the grey unhighlited drive of the card reader andcannot access it

I have tried the Windows X procedure to Control Panel etc but nothing shows

Hi Sam,

To isolate this concern, have you tried adding the card reader to folder as the source file in Photo app? If no, please add it by following the steps below:

• Open Photo app.
• Go to Settings.
• Click Add a folder under Sources.
• Choose the card reader folder.
• Click Add this folder to Pictures.

Once done, please check if you can now access the card reader photos.

I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

2. Change View by from Category to Small Icons/Large Icons.

3. Click on Troubleshooting.

4. Select Hardware and Devices and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Update Card reader driver

Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Search for your card reader driver.
• Right-click on the Card reader driver and select
  Update Driver Software.
• Restart your system

Method 3: Uninstall and then re-install Card reader driver

Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Search for your card reader driver.
• Right-click on the Card reader driver
  and select Uninstall.
• Restart your system.
• Let you system scan for new hardware and install relevant driver for your card reader.

Insignia Card Reader not working

I apologize for not addressing you in a timely manner. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: Run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under
Settings.

b. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the search option.

c. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Update the Card Reader Driver:

Follow these steps to update the driver.

a) Press Windows key + X key and click on Device manager.

b) Search for the Card Reader Driver and expand it.

c) Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.

Go to Device Manger and check if the SD card shows up. Steps to go to Device manager.

  Search for USB Port and expand it.
  
• 
  Check if it’s visible there.
