  1. Re child protection software kidswatch

I have kidswatch, pc security software to protect my 15 year old.

he has managed to disable it twice now.....the first time he told me he deleted a registry key with regedit...I have now disabled this in windows from my admin account ( he has a basic account)

again in he has disabled kidswatch....I suspect he has a keylogger installed, from when he previously had admin privileges....I plan to run some rootkit and keylogger detector software...hopefully can remove it.

i assume there is no way for me to change my admin password if the keyboard is being monitored.

    any help would be appreciated

    :)

  2. Create child account in Windows 10 without email?

You are missing the point... I want to set up a Child's account with all the protection, time limits, etc. that I had in Win 8.

If I create an other non-Family account for my child, I cannot apply the safety mechanisms.

Windows 10 absolutely sucks... why does Microsoft release such rubbish software???

  3. Family Safety Circumvented By Child Changing Birthdate on Microsoft Account

Same problem here. Are you outside the USA? It seems that within the USA, there is protection which prevents the birthdate being changed if the child is under 13, but outside the USA, there is no such protection, making the system useless once the child
    discovers the workaround.

There should be a parental setting which prevents a child account from changing the date of birth.

    Hi

Does his own account have admin level access? If so you might wish to create a more restricted account with no admin level. I would create a new restricted account, make sure the password is fairly long and unguessable. Use this password generator if you wish. Then remove the old account that has admin access. You may loose personal files if you delete this account, so backup first.

I don't wish to tell you how to be a parent but you do need to lay down a few ground rules, one of wish is not circumventing the protection which is there for his own protection. Any circumvention should incur punishment to do with the computer. I know kids that age are just starting out learning and its all very exciting, but there has to be limits.

  5. For starters, you should use a password for BIOS and preset it boot from HDD only.
He could simply boot Windows USB and change registry or use superadmin account.
Then again, resetting BIOS is easy, depending on his skills, so even that might not work.

In addition, you should use a parent DNS service on a router and in Windows settings as well, as long as it is password protected. It blocks adult webpages, but also proxy, which could be used to bypass it. Norton and OpenDNS provide basic servers, but you can also create a free account at OpenDNS and add more filters.

    Home Internet Security | OpenDNS

    Norton ConnectSafe

  6. Had a look at the first option, this I assume can easily be disabled with the router reset button...the norton offering does not offer time based restriction, which is essential

  7. Well router can be bypassed anyway, You can use NetSetMan to change DNS within Windows and change it on the fly, based on logon, setup a script or a scheduled task to change it when needed, etc.

Thanks, but this a bit beyond me.....is there a way of changing my admin account password that a key logger wouldn't see
