    Re-Discovering Drives

what would be the reason that external drives keep being re-discovered. I have an ext usb 3.0 drive that when plugged in it gets discovered correctly then i let it sit not moving or jiggling and after a while win ten comes up saying it just discovered e drive again, and again and again

this is really annoying and I'm worried about data corruption as well.

any info on this is greatly appreciated

    :)

  2. Lost hdd after last windows update

I have automatic updates set on my Windows 10 PC and earlier this afternoon my PC must have done an update as it restarted itself.

When I next came to use my PC I had a message from One Drive informing me that it could not find d: and that I had to re-configure my One Drive. Having done a quick check I discovered that the PC could no longer see the d: drive (physical 1tb HHD). I went
and checked my Bios and discovered that the drive was also unavailable. I then noticed that Intel Rapid Storage (RST) had been disabled in bios. I re-enabled RST and re-booted and my d: was available once more and my PC booted normally...

Why did the last windows 10 update re-configure RST? If I hadn’t discovered this quickly then this could have caused real problems.

  3. Local Disk Drive going missing when returning from Sleep

One additional piece of information I just discovered. If I run diskpart and rescan the Drive re-appears without a reboot.

Im thinking you maybe have a loose connection to your external drive.

Also check the power supply connections. I'd also wonder if a USB 2.0 port is being used instead of USB 3.0.
