    Re-enable Secure Boot - Dell XPS8930


    I upgraded my Dell XPS 8930 from Windows 10 to Windows 11. After the upgrade, boot from disc and USB drive disappeared from my boot order in BIOS and were no longer available as boot options. Only UEFI Options were Windows Boot Manager on my SSDD, Windows Boot Manager on my hard drive, Onboard NIC IPV4, Onboard NIC IPV6.I found that by disabling secure boot, the options to boot from disc or USB drive became available. Since I now know the fix, I want to re-enable secure boot. In the BIOS when I try to toggle Secure Boot from disable to enable, I get the following warnin

    So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?

    Here is a statement from a Kernal Developer at Red Hat:

    I'm not sure this exploits the legacy BIOS but rather it exploits the legacy boot method on MBR drives, injecting a signed key before the OS boots, which you are correct in that it has nothing to do with Windows 8. And the simplest fix would just be to require boot drives use GPT when Secure Boot is enabled in UEFI.

    I would suggest ensuring you have a backup of any important data before you start this process.
