Windows 10: Re-installing windows on my computer asks for product key - no skip option

I am still waiting for a response to this now locked thread, about why users cannot re-install windows without a product key which they may well not have, esp if the original was OEM.https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/re-installing-windows-on-my-computer-asks-for/84638798-14d5-4256-8f2a-af45a22ad859I need to re-install after a ransomsware hack attempt, and am unable to do so.Most simple thing, yet not possible.Or, please send me a new licence key.

Windows 10 clean re-install requires product key - cannot skip

After upgrading to Windows 10, I produced an installed CD using the Microsoft install CD creation tool. I now want to do a clean re-install of Windows 10 while preserving my files and applications. When installation using CD starts, the program requests
a product key. In some forums they suggest to skip this step and Windows 10 will later fix the product key. But in my case, I do not see a skip option. The 'Next' button is grayed until I enter a valid product key. I do have a valid OS on my system.
That is why I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

The question is how to perform Window 10 re-install when the program does not allow me to skip/postpone activation? Thanks.

 

Activate windows 10 after re-installing (I have lost my product key)

I own a Lenovo T430 laptop. In 2017, I installed Windows 10 using my original Windows 7 product key. Unfortunately, I cannot find that product key anymore. I need to re-install windows 10. Will it be automatically activated after the installation, if I skip the step of asking the product key during the installation?

In my opinion, I believe that my laptop will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers and this will not be a problem. Is that true?

If not, please suggest me a solution or a workaround.

Hello Folk,

I successfully installed Windows 10 on my laptop using the USB drive created with the media creation tool. The laptop had Win8 installed and I upgraded to Win8.1.

I tried to install Windows 10 on my desktop, but I do not get an option to skip when the setup asks for the product key.

My understanding is that Win10 does not have a product key when upgrading from the media creation tool, the only real difference I see is that the Win8.1 on my desktop was installed using the system builder version.

Also, if I boot with the USB drive I get the option to skip the product key but because I am upgrading rather then clean installing, the setup direct me to launch setup from within the current version of Windows.

Thoughts please?
