    Hello All,I am building a new PC, everything is new except I am keeping my old ssd and hdd. Windows 10 is currently installed on my ssd. Before I transfer everything over and do a fresh windows 11 install, the plan was to backup and save data on a usb, then deactivate windows, then wipe the drives. I plan on re-using the windows 10 key for another pc I have that I am building for a family member. Is this the steps I need to do or is there an easier way/ steps I am missing?

    recovering and wiping old drives

    i found 5 old IDE drives in my garage...they look solid so i want to see whats on them and probably wipe most of them. is it safe just to plug it into my rig? or should i do it on my old Linux rig which i wouldn't be TOO bumped if it exploded *Big Grin Re-using old drives, how to wipe and re-use :D

    modder I already used kill-disk. The deletion is done, I need to reinstall everything.

    recovering and wiping old drives

    I use a utility called aefdisk. It will recognize, delete, and create just about every hard disk partition you can think of. Only drawback is you need a floppy drive and a boot disk. It would be just the ticket if you are concerned about one of these drives messing up your machine. Simply disconnect all your hard disks, connect one of your old drives, boot from the floppy, and type aefdisk c: /delall at the DOS prompt. This will wipe any and all partitions and leave you with new NTFS partition. Download the shareware version here.

    This won't work (obviously) if the BIOS doesn't see the hard drive
