  1. REACTIVATION of Win Pro after cloning to SSD & putting in new computer

We replaced an old out dated computer with a new refurb at work. The old computer's HDD was cloned, using a Sabrent offline cloner, to a new SSD which was put in the new refurb computer. Everything works including Windows Except for Win 10 pro reactivation. I used Belarc Adviser to find the product key of the Win10 pro on the old computer but that key will not reactivate Win 10 pro on the new cloned SSD. Belarc does not find a Win 10 pro key on the new SSD. I don't know what reactivation looks for in the reactivation process. This was an old work computer with 2 GB of ram, a pre i-se

Windows 10 deactivated on new cloned SSD

Well it would appear the issue was solved!

What I did was re-insert and boot the original SSD went into Settings

    Selected Accounts

Clicked on Manage my Microsoft account, got a message stating the account needed to be updated

After that was done, I cloned the new SSD again

On the cloned SSD entered command prompt, used the slmgr with my product key command (was entered successfully)

Then used the slmgr /ato command...and voila, Windows was reactivated successfully!

So thank you all for the possible solutions you suggested. I will keep monitoring the system as time goes by.

Moving to SSD. Clone or not to clone?

I kinda agree with you, but on a wholr, do not. While I have done things a bit differently than this specific situation, by installing Windows directly to the SSD, and cloning after, my testing shows that there are no issues doing this, very little that can go wrong, provided your system is stable.

There are certain features that must be disabled in this situation, like auto defrag and such, but even with a fresh install to the SSD, you need to take steps to ensure that you SSD performs properly, regardless of how the data got there.

Arming yourself with a bit of knowledge can go a long way.

Installing the latest chipset driver, and the RST Tools, will ensure optimal performance of the SSD. but rather than taking my advice, I suggest the OP takes a look here:

Keep in mind, also, Digibucc, that many retail drives include software and such that very specifically is to be used to ttranser the OS from an existing mechanical drive to an SSD, and if there really was alot fo issues stemming from the cloning process, they would not have packages like that, simply to eliminate tech support costs. While not the optimal option, cloning is NOT a bad thing, as long as you take the nessecary steps.

REACTIVATION of Win Pro after cloning to SSD & putting in new computer

Putting SSD with activated Win 10 pro from an old laptop to a new one

    Hello

My Lenovo G570 laptop monitor has been damaged beyond repair. I can use the laptop monitor for limited work, so repairing would cost more than a second hand laptop. So I wish to buy a used laptop and to insert my SSD with activated Win 10 pro from the
old (Lenovo G570) laptop into the new one. To repeat, Win 10pro OS was activated in the old (Lenovo G570) laptop, so I would place the SSD with the activated Win 10 pro from the old to a new laptop.

    My question is:

After putting my SSD with activated Win 10 pro from the old (Lenovo G570) to a new laptop, would my activated Win 10 pro from the old laptop work in the new laptop? That is, will I lose the valid license for Win 10 pro if
I swap the Win 10 pro with SSD between the laptops?

    Regards

    Endre
