  1. Reactvation after MOBO and CPU replacement.

A few days ago I attempted to perform the cu update from 1903 xxxxx.418 to 1909 using the files and procedure from uudump. Downloading and creating the ISO all went well. Mounted the ISO on my SSD and initiated the upgrade. It was proceeding as it should.
At some point my pc stopped functioning. Black screen. Troubleshooting eventually led me with only the CPU, GPU and one stick of RAM installed. Nothing. Verified each leg of my PSU offline and also while connected under load. All ok. I had lost the audio port on this mobo a few years ago during the my first upgrade from WIN 7 to WIN 10. Thought that was suspicious at the time but attributed it to age of the mobo.
During this most recent failure none of my USB ports were not functioning. Each of the USB 3 ports would light the leds on my portable USB drives though. Tried a ps2 keyboard and still nothing.Went mobo shopping. I bought a cheap MSI 450 mobo and the cheapest AMD CPU I could find (R3-3200G) expecting to lose some functionality and/or speed as opposed to the I7-3820 I had been using for years.
During the first power up with my drive attached during the failed upgrade the update changes were reverted and successfully booted back into rev 1903xxx.418. All looked well.I expected (hoped) my MS account would recognize the changes and reactivate accordingly. Of course, it did not.
So researching at this site from all of the work you folks have done did eventually provide the solution. It was not what I expected though. The most recent thread I followed was one started by @Struggling ( think). What did eventually work for me was re-entering my original WIN 7 Pro Prod Key. This was able to link up with information in my MS account and activated. Beats me.

    :)

    Need to Replace my Mobo...

You will have to contact MS Support to get help activating after you replace the MOBO.

There is one exception to the no transfer rule that others have cited. That is when you replace the MOBO under warranty with the same model MOBO. So, get confirmation from HP that this is an equivalent replacement before contacting MS.

Reactvation after MOBO and CPU replacement.

Windows 10 pro re-activation after the cpu and mobo change

I'm going to be going through something similar, do you have a link to the step-by-step for deactivating the OS and reactivating it on the upgraded device? And all I am changing is the Mobo, CPU and memory, the original boot drive is still going to be
used. Do you recommend a fresh install, or can I still boot from the drive as it is after the upgrade? Windows used to just recognize the change in the system, but not sure how it does this now days. Thanks.
