    Read only Attribute preventing installation of visual studio buld tools and creation of dll


    I cant install new tools for visual studio right now and I can't compile a dll I am working on. My folders even new ones that I create continue to display a read only attribute that I have never once seen applied to my folders in 30 years of using windows. I'm no programmer but i dabble in python and JavaScript and a few others when time permits. Never my filesystem said nothing about "READ ONLY" attributes until two days ago. And I refuse to believe that It is a meaningless message because read only is quite clear and when i am all of the sudden faced with issues of not being able to write

    "Missing" MSVCP100.dll, MSVCP110.dll, MSVCR110.dll after Visual Studio update

    Hi Matthew,

    Those DLL files could have been deleted or corrupted in some way. Sometimes, .dll errors can indicate a problem with the Windows registry, a virus or malware issue, or even a hardware failure.

    We suggest
    Uninstalling Visual Studio     and download it from
    here    . Then, try to reinstall Visual Studio 2017.

    Let us know how this turned out for you.

    MFC MBCS DLL for Visual Studio 2019

    I have Visual Studio 2019 installed on my machine with

    C++ v14.24 MFC for v142 build tools (x86 & x64)

    C++ v14.24 ATL for v142 build tools (x86 & x64)

    I am attempting to build a legacy application but I am getting the following error:

    MSB8031 Building an MFC project for a non-Unicode character set is deprecated. You must change the project property to Unicode or download an additional library. See MFC MBCS DLL Add-on for more information.

    When this error occurs it directs me to a help page which encourages me to get the MFC MBCS DLL Add-on, but this is only available for Visual Studio 2013, not Visual Studio 2019 and will not install.

    Changing the Character set to Multibyte isn't working but I need to stay with multibyte character set. Please suggest.
