Read/write from HDD connected via USB drops to 0

Hey sup people, I have this weird issue with a 7200 rpm SATA2 HDD connected to my newer PC (Ryzen 3600, X470) through a USB 2.0 container manufactured by STLab. Both the HDD and the container are 10 years old or slightly more.

First of all, no issues with my old Windows 7 laptop when connecting that via its USB 3.0 port.
But when connected to this newer PC (Windows 10 19041.388 since there are no official drivers for Windows 7), it may be very very hard to copy something from the HDD, I mean even when I try to check what's in its folders - it freezes for like 10 seconds before showing it to me. When I try to copy a file from it - it gets copied in small (less than 100 MB) parts, i.e. it starts copying, copies those let's say 50 MB of the file, then freezes for like 15-20 seconds, then copies another part, freezes again, and it's this way till it gets fully copied, the same goes for extracting archives from it - they are extracted in the same way, part after part with freezes between them.

Copying a file to that HDD is pretty much the same - I tried to copy a 2 GB file to it, 1 GB copied with a speed of ~35 MB/sec and then the speed dropped to 0 and then went up to just like 5 MB/sec, copied like 100 MB and dropped to 0 again. I'm using the latest BIOS and the latest drivers (chipset, video, audio), tried different USB ports.

    How to fix this?

    :)

  3. HDD disappear when used

I have strange problem with Win 10. I have SSD and HDD setup. When I try to copy to HDD, it copy some files and then the drive disapperar form Task manager (not from the explorer) and speed drop to 0. It affect even external HDDs connected via USB 3.0
and even network HDD.. After restart disk is not visible, only thing that helps is turn off PC and turn off power switch. After it the HDD acts as normal, but when i try again to copy (other) data, it write some of them than again, speed drop to 0 and HDD
    disappeared.
