Windows 10: Reader app for Win 10

Hi,


So I just got the new SP6 and am bewildered that Microsoft "Retired" the Reader app for newer devices and builds of Windows 10 and is forcing us to use Edge for PDFs. I don't like Edge for reading PDFs and miss the Reader app. It still works on my SP3 (though I have to constantly battle Windows Update to keep the app)

Anyone have any hints on how to get the Reader app for SP6? I can download it, but when I open it, I am told to use Edge.


PLEASE BRING MY FAVORITE APP OUT OF RETIREMENT. THANKS!!

Accessing the Reader app

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2: I suggest you to uninstall the reader app, download it from Windows Store, re-install it on Windows 10 and check if the issue persists.

Follow the below steps to uninstall the app:

• Press Windows key, click on Settings.
• Click on System, Apps & features from the left pane of
  Settings window.
• Click the Reader app and Uninstall it.

Go to Windows Store, log-in with Microsoft account, search for the Reader app
install it and check if the issue sill persists.

Problems with upgrade to Windows 10. Reader app wont highlight text

Before I could provide you a solution, I would like to know the below information:

  When you try highlighting do you get any error message?
  

Meanwhile I suggest you to try app troubleshooter, kindly follow the steps below:

a) Type troubleshooting in the Search Box present on the Task Bar.

b) Select Troubleshooting.

c) Select View all on the top left corner.

d) Run Windows Store App troubleshooter.

If the above method does not help then kindly reinstall the
reader app.

To reinstall the reader app kindly follow the below steps:

• Right click on the reader app
• Select uninstall
• After uninstallation is finished kindly download the same from windows store
