Windows 10: Really annoying problem with taskbar/system functions crashing

I have been having this problem for about 2 weeks now and its driving me mad.



Sometimes, without warning, the taskbar will freeze, and not even pressing the windows key will bring it up. From this moment on, I am unable to open up new programs. Fortunately, alt-tab still works even in this state, but only for a short time. Trying to system apps like settings does not work. Any attempts of brining up the right side notifications or adding a desktop will crash the system. Only a full reboot can fix this issue.



I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before

System Icons on taskbar

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Help! New system keeps crashing

It's runing through them now. It's a step forward, as the problem was the system crashing as soon as I pressed the key to boot from the disk, it crashed before I even got to install it. When it's done, I'll burn another copy, see if that works.
