Windows 10: Really short character limit on PDF file names?

Hello,


I am increasingly frustrated with this super short character limit on PDF files. When I'm downloading files, if it is over the limit it fails. But the limit is different every time, and some a really short like 10 or 11. I have tried both Firefox and Chrome. I have tried renaming them in file explorer after download but it still doesn't let me exceed the limit. How do I troubleshoot this? What might be causing it?

260 Character Limit in File Names

Hi,

Has the 260 character limit for File Names been removed in Windows Server 2016 ? Can anyone confirm ?

 

PDF Reader Limitations?

PDF reader limitations? Saved a few operations manuals to the phone as .pdf files. From the Office-app, document listing/page: select pdf file to open... PDF reader goes blank for 90 seconds then closes and phone returns to document list. Appears opening
large files is not supported? Also, has anyone figured out a way to save PDF files to the phone from an email attachment or from a website download. Finding the PDF support/features rather limited.

Regarding your PDF documents, the location will be based on where you saved the files. For your second inquiry, your documents can be converted to a PDF. If the original file is from Office Word, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

  In Word, select File > Save As.
  
• 
  Select where you want to save the file.
  
• 
  Type a new File name if you want.
  
• 
  For Save as type, select PDF.
  
• 
  For Optimize for, select an option: Standard or
  Minimum Size.
  
• 
  Select Open File After Publishing, if you want to open the file after you save it as a PDF. This is selected by default.
  
• 
  Select Save.
