Windows 10: Really slow download even after upgrading my download speed

My download speed never reached 1mb/s but now even after upgrading it to ~64 mbit/s it never goes beyond 1.4 Mb/s. It starts off with ~1.4 Mb/s, then fluctuates between 950 kB/s and 800 kB/s. My pc is connected with an ethernet cable, yet other connected computer systems work completely fine and reach adequate download speed. The general router settings and various ping tests also display the correct download (router settings even display 78,6mbit/s).

The same problem occurs with different sources (Steam, Origin, Browser Downloads from various servers,...). I'm not that good with computers and I don't know anyone who could help me. At this point, I'm kinda desperate. I don't even know whether it's a software or hardware issue.

A list of things I already tried:

- resetting router and swapping ethernet cables/ports

- updating drivers

- using custom DNS server (Windows 8.8.8.8 and my provider's)

- disabling background apps

- resetting any kind of network information

And probably many more.

• I would suggest you to test the speed using any of the speed test website or app to confirm the upload and download speed.
• I also suggest you to reset the wireless router to check if that helps.
