Windows 10: Realtek code 10 error

Hi there, I recently switched from a USB headset to a wired headset, and I found I didn't have Realtek installed on my system, so I couldn't use it. I downloaded the Realtek driver for my motherboard ASUS Z87 Sabretooth and Windows 10 x64 combo from ASUS's website, but although the files showed up in the C: drive, Realtek still wasn't showing in the device manager. So, I added it using the legacy hardware option and was able to get it on the list of devices, at least, but it throws a code 10: request is not supported error. Asking Windows to automatically update the driver gives me a "you already have the best driver available" message, and browsing manually again throws a 10 code, so it doesn't install. I've restarted the audio endpoint service, as well, both before and after I rebooted just to make sure, but that didn't work, either. Just to be extra clear, Realtek does not show up on my list of available sound devices on any window outside of the device manager.

edit: By the way, the Realtek driver version ASUS gave me was 6.0.1.7848.

edit2: I can also see the Realtek audio manager program running in the task manager, and can end and restart the program, but it hangs at 2.8 MB of memory and never actually starts.

Hey Dj Urko, I am trying to install the realtek driver and I get the error 0x0001. I have disabled secure boot and Driver signature. I have the latest win 10 build. What am I doing wrong? Can u post the complete list of steps that I have to take? I have an asus z170 with alc1150.

I had the realtek error when using the installer, so I did these step and It Worked

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.
