Windows 10: Realtek headset microphone not detected anymore.

Hello. yesterday I tried the microphone connected to my headset, the headphones are Realtek HyperX Cloud Alpha and the microphone is removable. The wire has two plugs. I have the latest Windows update installed. Yesterday, it worked. Today, it doesn't.When I plug the microphone's side in, I get a notification that it was plugged in, but not the pop-up that lets me test it. For my headphones, the pop-up appears. The mic no longer shows up in my input devices, in the system nor under bluetooth & devices. I've tried restarting my pc, plugging and unplugging in various ways; checking it under

I recently bought a new headset with a microphone and I can hear audio through the headset but
my mic is not detected and it is still using my default Realtek computer microphone.

I've tried looking for hidden microphones but there are none.
I've re-installed my Realtek HD Audio driver.

But nothing seems to work.

What should I do to fix this?

 

Computer won't recognize headset microphone

This is what i see in device manager. Im not sure if the Speakers/Headphones (Realtek High Definition Audio) is the one your saying to disable, as that is what is default in playback devices in the sounds panel.

Setting Stereo Mix as the default recording device and disabling everything else still didnt get the mic working, even when the headset is plugged into the microphone only audio port or the mic + sound audio port.

It appears the headset microphone is now working but is simply being lumped under the same name in windows with the built in mic. The program I am using to test the microphone lists Default and then Microphone array. Using Default it seems the headset mic is being used as muting it results in no input and specifically selecting the realtek microphone array results in the built in mic being used.
