Windows 10: Realtek microphone doesn't pick up sounds properly

Week or two ago, my Realted mic drivers got updated on their own and since then, it's impossible for my internal microphone to pick up my voice unless I yell directly into it. I tried various solutions, such as:

- running a troubleshooter

- going back to older version of drivers

- uninstalling the drivers and installing the new ones again

- increasing the volume boost in properties up to 100 volume and +30dB

- changing the quality to 16 bit DVD

- unchecking the enhacing audio option in the properties

- enabling the stereo mix

Nothing helped as of yet. My mic worked just fine few weeks ago and the laptop I'm using is brand new.

Microphone doesn`t work

My microphone and ear-phone doesn`t work. Please help me, I have windows 7 home basic, my computer reproduces a sound, but devices no.

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
  

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see

Muted mic picking up sound in game

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.
