Windows 10: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller - Unidentified Network Issue

I have spent a great deal of time over the last few days trying to resolve a problem which prevented me from using the wired connection to my router. I followed all the advice available online which involved updating drivers, resetting IP stack etc etc. I also had two long chat sessions with Microsoft which involved repair updates to Windows which had no effect on the underlying issue. The last advice was to backup all my data and install fresh version of Windows which would resolve the issue - I respectfully refused to do this!In my particular case the issue was caused by the Realtek NIC havi

RealTek PCIe GBE Family Controller not working

I searched for "Realtek pcie GBE controller" in the search box on this site and found this -

I tried the last suggestion and it worked for me.

KB4560960 and KB4565483 Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller Issues

Following the install of KB4560960 and subsequent reboot, the Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller reports a code 10 in device manager and logs to the system event log:

"Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller : Could not find a network adapter."

I rolled this KB back and all was fine.

Installation of KB4565483 has had the same effect and I have had to roll it back also.

Other recent KB installs have been fine:

KB4497464

Realtek Driver version is 10.38.118.2019 and is WHQL signed

Has anyone else encountered the same issue with either or both of these updates?
