Windows 10: Realtek(R) not detecting external mic. I am at my wits end.

Please reply if you see this, I really really need help.

I have a dell laptop, and I am at my absolute wits end.



For the past few months, I have been trying to fix an issue with the audio drivers not detecting my external mic.



After doing lots of research, I learned other people suffered the EXACT same issue where realtek doesn't use external mics from the 3.5 jack.

I've tried to fix it and narrowed down my issue to realtek detecting my headset as "Headphone" rather than "Headset".

I heard that realtek audio app can fix this, but when I tried to fix it, I learned that my driver was outdated, and the app wasn't opening.

I deleted realtek and Waves MaxxAudio and reinstalled realtek.



Now realtek isn't in program files anymore, and is in x86 program files. And is missing the application. And windows store refuses to cooperate and re download Waves MaxxAudio.



I just want to get the pop up back when I plug my headset in so that I can designate it as Headset.



Please help me I am frustrated and irritated at this whole thing.

Built-in Realtek mic

Cortana doesn't not work with my MSI laptop. It has a built-in Realtek mic. Does that mean I have to buy another external mic?

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

Front Panel Mic Not been detected

So I am using a gaming headset and a splitter to be able to use the mic of it. the problem is that the front panel jack for the mic doesn't detect the microphone. The rear panel does work and the mic turns on when connected to the back. A weird thing is
that if I connect the headphone part of the splitter into the microphone jack I can listen as if I connected it to the headphone jack. It detects headphones but no microphone. The rest of the front panel works normally is just the microphone jack.

I have already tried reinstalling realtek, I disable and enable realtek from detecting front panel.

Any suggestions?

My motherboard is gigabyte H110N
