Realtek (R) : Volume is very low and I can't listen to videos

The volume is very low on my laptop and I can barely hear YouTube or Bing videos. I tried uninstalling the driver and restarting the computer and the driver reinstalls automatically. I've tried downloading from the manufacturer. I checked the sound bars and they are at maximum. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? My driver is Realtek (R)

Note: I notice that the sound is fine on YouTube Music (not so on regular YouTube) so I know that this isn't a hardware problem.

    :)

  2. Realtek HD audio - low volume

Something really unexpected happened after a seemingly innocent thing - I connected external microphone to a front panel jack, and everything started sound at a low volume. I disconnected then the mic, and put it back to the back panel jack. Low volume
remained. I tried uninstalling drivers, installing Windows 8.1 drivers in compatibility mode, I played with pretty much all settings of Realtek HD Audio manager, Sonic Studio, Control Panel's sound settings. Nothing helped. Such a puzzling story! I hear it's
due to some Realtek software/hardware bugs.

    Anyone has a workaround?

    Low sound volume

I had low volume on Win7, Win8/8.1 and Win10 using Realtek HD audio.
Here is a fix that worked for me:
Make SURE your Windows sound level is set to low before doing this!
    * Access the Realtek sound program
    * On a desktop pc the rear green connector is normally used. Right click the icon and you have 2 options:
"New reassignment of contact/connector" or "sound settings" (or my english translation is a little off)
    * Choose new reassignment of contact/connector
    * Change from frontspeaker out to headphones
    * Click OK and you are finished.

I can't guarantee that this will work for all of you, but I can no longer listen to music with audio settings at 100% because it is way to loud after doing this.

  4. Realtek (R) : Volume is very low and I can't listen to videos

Very low volume from Internal microphone, Windows 10, Dell XPS 15, Realtek, Skype

A similar story to a few other posts. Very low volume outgoing using the internal Mic in a Skype call.

    - Brand new XPS15 9530

    - Immediate upgrade to Win 10

    - Windows update and Dell updates applied and up to date

    - Audio drivers show Realtek HD Audio, 6.0.1.7544. (Latest version available on the Dell support site)

    - Skype 7.10.0.101 up to date.

    - Device IDs

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0668&SUBSYS_102805FE&REV_1000

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0668&SUBSYS_102805FE

Skype microphone showing very low volume even with all settings to max (+30db, 100%). Calls to Test Call return nothing or very quiet voice. Control panel, Sounds, Recording shows almost no movement in the display unless you shout or tap the Mic area above
the screen. Playing with all the various enhancement options both in Control panel, Sounds, Recording and Dell Audio don't seem to have any effect. However I think I've seen "Listen to this device" and Voice Recorder work OK although volume levels were low.

A possible temporary fix is to go to Control Panel, Device manager, Sound Video and Games controllers, Update Driver, Browse, Pick and choose the generic High Definition Audio Device. This is not really a long term solution but does seem to work correctly.

I'm not certain yet whether the problem is Dell hardware, Windows 10, Skype or the Realtek drivers. But more or less out of the box the combination seems to be currently broken and unusable. Given that the generic driver works it suggests the problem is mainly
    with Realtek vs Windows 10.

Any solutions from the Microsoft end?
