Windows 10: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Bluetooth - 1.6.1015.3018 breaks Bluetooth

On 4/29, the bluetooth driver Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Bluetooth - 1.6.1015.3018 was pushed to my Lenovo running a Realtek Bluetooth dongle. This update cause Bluetooth to fail. The following behavior is noted:1. None of the blue tooth device can connect. Device manager doesn't even show a realtek device.2. You cannot remove any paired Bluetooth device. Trying to do so result in an event ID 18.3. In the event log, I can see a event ID 18 Windows cannot store Bluetooth authentication code link keys on the local adapter. I would suggest you to try the below methods and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

• 
  Press “Windows key + X”.
  
• 
  Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
  
• 
  Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
  

Follow the On Screen instructions.



Method 2:
Un-install and re-install latest Bluetooth drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

Follow these steps:

• 
  Press “Windows Key + X” from the keyboard.
  
• 
  Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Right click on the Bluetooth drivers and select
  “Uninstall”.
  
• 
  Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

I suggest you to update the Bluetooth, display and audio drivers from the manufacturer web site. If the issue persist uninstall and reinstall the drivers

Method 1: Compatibility mode

If the issue persist, I would suggest you to install the latest available drivers on manufacturer's website in compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
