Windows 10: Reasons for HDMI Port failing?

I have a Lenovo thinkpad X1 carbon and I'm on most recent version of windows 10. I can't get my laptop to display to an external monitor via HDMI. To eliminate whether or not it is the cable, I have tried multiple cables. To eliminate whether or not it is the monitor, I have tried multiple monitors. This means it is an issue with my laptop. I have tried updating the display driver, deleting and reinstalling the display driver, deleting some recently installed programs stuff that I installed inbetween my last use of the HDMI port and now as I read this could help, deleting temp files / using

Yeah, Barbara, that would be it if it's the only HDMI port.

Have you installed the camera software? Be sure to read the instructions closely and follow each step. It may or may not have you plug into the port later. So read all the steps through first.

Do you have the latest drivers installed for the graphics card?

If new drivers or reloading graphics card drivers doesn't fix it, the next thing I would suggest is to try the display port to HDMI adapter a couple of us have suggested already with a regular HDMI cable. If your cable is bad or you just need an adapter because for some reason a straight cable won't work - spending $20 on the adapter is a lot cheaper than new graphics card. I just installed my GTX 970 card a week ago and I had plenty of HDMI cables so that is why I went with the adapter instead of buying a new display port to hdmi cable.

 

Why exactly is ATi considered be better at HDMI?

I plug my HDMI cable into the card, then into my TV. Those are the steps that I have to do. All the steps you list make absolutely no sense to me.
