Rebooted Win 10 Pro, Lost NAS Access

or a brief 2 weeks out of 5 years running Win 10 Pro, I was able to access my NAS and it was glorious not to have to unplug the drive and sneakernet it over to the Win 10 PC, plug it in there and transfer files. But today I rebooted Windows and when it came back online, the NAS was crossed out in the mapped drive in Explorer.I rebooted the router that hosts the media drive WRT3200ACM, unmounted and remounted the drive, rebooted router again. Then did a hard reboot by powering down the router. Finally, thinking Windows 10 has barfed, I did a System Image Restore of the entire PC to April 6, a

Win 10 Pro file explorer lockup opening NAS drives

    greetings,

Win 10 pro upgrade from 8.1 pro on Hannspree netbook. Install went well, now when trying to access 2 different NAS boxes on my non domain network (simple workgroup setup) file explorer can't seem to access either of the drives, and when trying to abort the
attempt, file explorer locks up for about 20 seconds. Somewhere in the process I picked up a persistent error that the temp file removal failed, and this now persists even after reboots.

Had no issues w/ NAS file access while under win 8.1. No config changes to either the NAS boxes or the win install that I have made. Also, no issues accessing from my other win 7 computers.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    WRS

    Accessing NAS in windows 10

Hi. Have a Synology NAS ds211j. From My desktop computer running on Win 8.1 I can add My NAS as a net server. After upgrading my Surface Pro 2 to win 10, I see the NAS in my network and I can access it from my browser but it is not possible to connect to
    as a network resource.

Tried to connect as member or homegroup or as disconnected from homegroup. All other settings are the same as in windows 8 and I have also set up network sharing without password. Since I also want to use it as a printserver, which is no problem in win 8
I hope there is an answer.

Any suggestions on how to access the NAS on win 10?

    Larzzer

Actually, after todays upgrade, it work!

    Windows 10 & NAS Box

    Hi Peter,

A few possible reasons can cause this issue. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • How is your NAS box connected to your computer? (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB)
    • Are you using a program provided by the manufacturer of your NAS box to access it?
    • Do you receive any error messages when accessing your NAS box? If yes, what is the exact error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the solution provided by omiklik (Most Helpful Reply)
