    Recent files list stopped showing in the search window (Ver 2004)


    I've been running Version 2004 for about three weeks.

    Within the past two days, the contents of the search window (not sure of terminology - the rectangle appearing in the bottom left of the screen when one clicks the magnifying glass) changed. That window had always shown the four most recent files I'd opened, and/or sites visited with a Microsoft browser. Now at the top it shows five "top" (recent) apps, which it always had, but in the bottom half, instead of the files/sites, shows two columns, one headed "Recent" (a semiredundant list of recent apps), and the other headed "Quick Searches" populated by weather, "top news," "today in history," and "coronavirus prevention."

    How do I return it to the four recent files/sites? How do I - hopefully - prevent Microsoft from again hijacking this window, and keep it configured as I, not they, want?

    Again, this change didn't happen when I moved to Version 2004. This change happened about 2 1/2 weeks after going to 2004. I reference 2004 only so people know what I'm running.

    you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

    or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.
