Recent (Save Files) - Change Default Settings to OneDrive

Recent (Save Files) - Change Default Settings

I am trying to save my files to OneDrive as a default. It has always worked as my default. For some reason, the default save location is now Recent. Something caused it to change. All default locations settings in Word Options, my computer and OneDrive settings are set to save to OneDrive. It appears my computer does not recognize these default settings.

Do you have any suggestions how I can have my default locations for files change back to OneDrive?

I use Windows 10. My computer is Dell XPS 8910.

See Screenshots. Screenshot with Recent highlighted shows my current default location as Recent. OneDrive should be highlighted.

    Also, I reinstalled Microsoft Office.

Can't change default storage settings in windows 10

I recently purchased a Surface 3 with Windows 10. Initially, I changed my default storage options for Documents to "My PC" via the drop down menus under Settings/Storage/Save Locations. I did not make any changes to the default storage settings to any
    other files.

Now I've decided to change the default to save Documents to my OneDrive. But when I attempt to do so, the only option in the drop down menu is "My PC". OneDrive is no longer an option.

In fact, I am not given an option to change the default storage location for Apps, Documents, Pictures, Music, or Videos - they only say "My PC".

How can I change the default storage settings for my files??

    Thanks!

  3. Saving Pictures on Windows 10

Quick Access and This PC are one in the same. Quick Access is only a virtual location for providing quick access to your recent files and frequently accessed personal folders.

Libraries are virtual folders that consolidates access to all files in locations such as your Public and Personal folders. There is some redundancy especially with Libraries because of transition to OneDrive.

The common locations you would have your files are in:

Personal folder - press Windows key + R, type: %userprofile% then hit Enter

Public Folder - located under C:\Users

OneDrive - Also, within your Personal folder and sometimes set as your default save location.

To stop saving files to OneDrive, right click the OneDrive icon in the Taskbar

    Click Settings

Click Auto Save and change where files are saved by default.

You can also move files out of OneDrive to your local personal folder to free up space or buy more storage.

    Hello -
Thanks for the return. Before I undertake changing the Registry, I have a question.
The steps in my Registry, for my version of Windows 10, were a bit different, but I think I eventually got to the right spot.
The last step is to change the number of places you want to list in Recent Places. In my case, the default Max Display listed 50 as the number. So, if I were to change that number, how do I know the Save As page will be one of those places? Or, a similar question, will this registry change delete the tab Recent from my Save As page? This is what I would like to happen.
When I received my computer in Nov. 2016, the Recent tab was not listed in the Save As page. Something caused it to be added over time. Which brings me to this second question. Would there be any benefit in deleting the changed registry listing and reverting back to the default listing? See attachment.
