Recent update in Windows 10 caused major problems

I upgraded to windows 10 and for a couiple of days everything was fine then i had an automatic update and thats when my problems started. I know one of the reasons Windows 10 is free is to get everyone on Windows Edge the stupid thing is since the update i cant get on Windows Edge i can get on Firefox and Chrome and access the net but not from edge it blinks for a split second and nothing also the little window in the left hand corner is white and clicking on it does nothing however if you right click you get a list of everything so ican access stuff this way. I have tried all the system checks and it did say there were corrupt files then i used another programme that rectified this and it says everything is ok but it is not ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. NB What is really annoying is all these parasite companies already set up to take your money to rectify the problems or so they say..

    :)

  3. Problems caused by recent Windows 10 Update

Hi Mary . I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

This can mean your User account was too corrupted to start so it created a new Temp account so you could at least get into Windows.

First see if you can rescue your files externally from the old Account. You can copy them to flash or External USB, DVD, or drag up to 5gb free into OneDrive, or up to 15gb free to Google Drive, to upload to the cloud.

Next try this fix to see if it can be repaired:
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/48012-fix-y...

If not see if you can create a new Admin Account to replace it:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/226540/how-to-create-a...

If necessary to do this you can enable the Hidden Admin Account which should only be used in emergencies:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2969-enable...
    .

If all else fails you can try to Reset Windows from Advanced Startup Options:
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

You can create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC by installing the Media Creation tool, choosing to Create Media, then choosing the matching version.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key:
    https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Repair Your Computer. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

    In Troubleshoot options choose Reset.

If that fails use the bootable media to do the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible Clean Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than
any amount of money could buy:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

As more and more come to 10, its new, more and more complaints will rise. I installed 10 onto my 8.1 three weeks ago. I'm just beginning to see, and so I don't have a report yet. 10 hasn't given me any big problems so far. But, I miss XP....

  7. And HOW is this a SOLUTION? Every time Win10 barfs, we're supposed to (1) back up all of our settings and data, (2) reinstall the OS from scratch (again), (3) reinstall and reconfigure all of our apps, (4) restore all of our settings and data!

I understand the value of doing a clean install the FIRST TIME -- after the upgrade -- to get rid of all the cruft left over from the initial upgrade. But if the standard solution is to do this over and over again, that's a sign that Win10 is garbage.
