    Recent update turned my laptop into a potato


    I am no stranger to Microsoft's quick ascension into scrutiny of their updates, but the most recent one literally has me so flabbergasted. Not only has the entire thing tanked and runs like a potato, but I had to do this on my phone's browser because my auth code expired due to it taking so long to log me on on my laptop. Before, it usually took having GIMP open for photo editing, youtube playing in the background, and 7 browser tabs open for 7 straight hours before my laptop finally would go "end my suffering" and stop responding on one app.

    The fact I couldn't even log on from my computer makes this absolutely beyond acceptable.

    Good luck with me getting the feedback hub downloaded if I couldn't even log onto my account.

    I am normally pretty lax when it comes to technology updates. Been dealing with it for years and it usually gets fixed, but this has rendered my laptop currently UNUSABLE. I HAVE COLLEGE CLASSES STARTING AND I AM DOING REMOTE STUDIES. THIS CANNOT BE PERMANENT.

    Here is a tip is you cant fix it, make it noticeable that you broke it...step on it *Wink Recent update turned my laptop into a potato ;) "Oh my gawd, did i step on your lil ol laptop, im terribly sorry" Then she has no choice but to buy a new one.

    This is a frequent problem am sure as you have already seen from online searches.

    Flea power is usually the culprit here, basically its residual power that remains on the computer even after thecomputer has been shutdown. You can drain the flea power with the steps the other answers have suggested.

    • Disconnecting the battery and adapter
    • Press the hardpress the power button for 30 seconds
    • This should clear the flea power

    If this doesnt work, read this article its about
    a dell inspiron     but the same applies for you hp. It has some detailed step by step instructions
