    Immediately after a Windows update download, I rebotted, and ever since then my cursor/mouse has been moving on its own zooming in/out and shaking randomly. Any idea how to fix this?

    To assist you better, I would like to know what is the make and model of the computer?



    Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if that helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

    Methods 1.

    I suggest you to run hardware troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue. It will automatically detect the problem and fix it.


    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel.

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel.

    • Click on Small icon on the left navigation pane.

    • Click on Troubleshooting and click on
      Hardware and Device.


    • Click on Advanced on the Hardware troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).

    • Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Hardware troubleshooter.
    If the issue still persist, try the below method.

    Method 2.

    I would suggest you to uninstall re-install the touchpad driver and check.


    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device Manager
      .

    • Locate Mice and other pointing devices and click on it to expand the same.

    • Right-click on the device and select
      Uninstall
      .
    • Once you are uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic touchpad driver
    If the above method did not help to fix the issue, try the below method.

    Method 3.

    If the above method did not help to fix the issue, I would suggest you to
    go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest updated generic touchpad driver. If the touchpad driver is not available for Windows 10, try installing the available driver in compatibility mode and check.




    • Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    • Select Compatibility tab.

    • Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

    • Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

    Thank you both for your prompt replies, I tried all steps listed, some I had tries previously but I still tried them again, but still no cursor.

    Do you have any other suggestions?
